Does LED light save energy in the end?

LED has the characteristics of low energy consumption, concentrated light, rich color perception, and changeable images. "However, some features are not advantageous when applied to LED road lighting, but they are just disadvantages."


Does LED light save energy in the end?


At the end of last year, the three ministries stipulated in the bidding documents that the overall energy efficiency of LED street lights was 85lm, but in fact many companies said it was difficult to achieve this target.


Calculated by 80lm, if the light effect is effectively used, and 90% of the light of the LED street lamp is irradiated on the required road surface, then the overall effective use of the LED street lamp is 72lum/w.


The high-pressure sodium lamp has a luminous efficiency of 120lm/w, and its lamp effect is 70lm/w (the minimum efficiency of the road lighting standard specified by the road lighting design standard is 70lm/w). Therefore, compared with LEDs, the use of high-pressure sodium lamps is more diffuse, and if the effective utilization rate of the high-pressure sodium lamps is 80lm/w, the overall energy efficiency utilization is 67lum/w.


"Under the same conditions, the overall luminous efficiency of the LED street lamp is 72lum/w, which is more energy-saving compared with the high-pressure sodium lamp 67lum/w. Compared with Philips Lighting Cosme, due to its small luminous body and better light distribution, the luminous efficiency is 140lm/ w, very suitable for road lighting. Under the same conditions, the efficiency of cosme lamps is about 5% higher than that of high-pressure sodium lamps, and the overall effective utilization value is 89 lum/w." Zhao Jianping analyzed the overall performance of three different lamps under the same conditions to a senior LED reporter Effective use of value.


From these three data, cosme is the most energy-efficient, followed by LEDs, and then high-pressure sodium lamps. LEDs are not as energy-saving as cosme, but they are more energy-efficient than high-pressure sodium lamps when applied to road lighting.


"The real energy saving of LED is reflected in the replacement of traditional incandescent lamps, such as hotels, residential buildings and other places. Using 6W LEDs to replace 20W incandescent lamps can save more than 70% of energy. If you use 25W LED lamps to replace 100W halogen lamps , The energy saving is also above 70%," Zhao Jianping told reporters.


Where is the energy-saving potential of LED and how to save energy?


"Compared to high-pressure sodium lamps, the biggest advantage of LEDs is flexible control and variable power," said LED street lamp experts.


LED is used in the field of road lighting. If you work for 10 hours a day and 5 hours in the second half of the night, energy saving is mainly reflected in the second half of the night.
